What is digital scenery?
Digital scenery is a video or image projected onto a theater screen using a projector or LED screen. It saves on the high physical costs of traditional painted scenes, and is also environmentally friendly and offers unparalleled creative freedom.
What is the best backdrop for a theater video projector?
As a fundamental rule: black absorbs light, white reflects light.
A white screen is a good, affordable option, as it allows the projected light to be reflected back to the audience.
While black screens offer higher contrast and color saturation, white screens offer a broader viewing angle, which is preferred for a wide theater space, where you want all audience members to see the projection.
Because white screens are more common and therefore widely produced, they are generally a more affordable option.
What are some tips for theater projection?
Choose a projector with the highest brightness setting and the widest lens
Choose a white screen rather than black, as it offers a wider viewing angle
To maintain the video's brightness and saturation at optimal levels, use your light's barn doors to direct your ambient and spot lighting AWAY from your theater screen
To avoid shadows, position your projector high and tilt down. If your screen can come forward, consider rear projection
How do I project images and videos?
Look into software such as Powerpoint, Keynote or QLab. Youtube offers a wide selection of excellent tutorials on how to use these programs
What is a seamless looping video?
You've probably noticed that this product is a "seamless looping video". What on Earth is this?
One of the most important features of your scenic backdrop videos is that they are seamless: meaning they can be set to loop and the audience will not know when they loop ... because they are seamless.
You can set any video to loop in projection software. However, if your video isn't a seamless design, there will be a recurring "jarring" moment for your audience every time it loops: an uncomfortable and distracting moment for everyone!
Luckily for you, all Digital Theatre Projections products are seamless looping videos.
Making seamless videos is an important skill, and thankfully I have over 20 years experience in perfecting this skill!
